Earn Continuing Education Hours in the Convenience of Your Home or Car!

Read answers to some Frequently Asked Questions.
 Get the CELL Documentation Form
...in case you need an extra copy.

CELL has audiotapes and videotapes which can bring you up to date on the latest developments in our field while helping you earn the 12 hours of clinically-relevant continuing education required each year by ABESPA. In addition, we have tapes and kits designed to show to clients and families.

Here's how it works:

1. Select. Choose titles of interest to you. You may borrow up to one tape at a time, for a two-week period, except as noted below. Suggestion: In case your first choice is checked out, list alternative titles to ensure rapid service.

**SPECIAL OFFER FOR AUDIOTAPES: YOU MAY BORROW UP TO THREE TITLES AT ONE TIME OF AUDIOTAPES LASTING ONE HOUR OR LESS EACH FOR A SINGLE $15 FEE. (This offer does not apply to AUDIOTAPES lasting more than one hour or for any VIDEOTAPES.)

2. Pay. Mail your order, with your enclosed check for $15 payable to SHAA (the Speech and Hearing Association of Alabama), to cover shipping and handling, to:

Debby Blackmon
Speech and Hearing Center
University of Montevallo
Mail Stop 6720
Montevallo, AL 35115

Although you may phone your inquiries regarding availability, at (205) 665-6720, or fax your questions to (205) 665-6721, we regret that we cannot ship your request without having received your check in advance.

3. Learn by studying the tape(s) and documenting what you learn on the enclosed Documentation Form. (Keep this in case of ABESPA audit or for official documentation for your employer.)

4. Return the tape(s). . . within two weeks -- Be thoughtful to your fellow professionals! -- paying for return postage and insurance.

Scheduling Notes:

Debby Blackmon is out of the office during regular University of Montevallo vacations (Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.).

Please plan to order before holidays.

CELL demand is especially high in October, November, and December.

Order early to get your favorite titles, or ask Debby for alternative suggestions.

IMPORTANT re: CREDIT OFFERED:

Use of tapes from SHAA's Continuing Education Lending Library is designed for meeting continuing education requirements for ABESPA renewal. School-based clinician may use school-related CELL tapes for staff development credit. The Certification Office of the Alabama State Department of Education has agreed to accept the documentation form for credit. Simply complete the CELL documentation form, and submit to your administrator. CELL tapes may also be used to meet the new requirements for continuing education to maintain the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. For logistical reasons, however, CELL hours cannot be applied to the ASHA Award for Continuing Education (ACE).

CELL actively seeks input for new selections.
